Press conference with stakeholders:

We recently had a very insightful press conference with our stakeholders. They have given us valuable feedback and raised some legitimate concerns that we are addressing via our website. The severe concerns raised is addressed on our risks and strategies page, and some of the minor points that were made is addressed as follows:

Risks and Strategies:

  • Working conditions on ships
    • Response: We investigated the employee’s complaint regarding unsanitary and dirty working conditions on the ship. We have taken the necessary steps to optimise these conditions, and to ensure its consistent upkeeping as we want an environment where our employees can thrive.
  • Road accident; collusion of one of our trucks and a pedestrian
    • Response:  It is a tragedy that should not have occurred. We apologise for this rare occurrence, and as part of our apology we are offering to cover medical bills that relate to injuries received due to the accident.
  • Article claiming that there is dolphin and turtle meat in the anchovy paste that we sell
    • Response: We can assure you that our anchovy paste is of top quality, and we follow the correct procedures regarding limiting bycatch, and not getting it in our products.
  • Request from employees to have Wi-Fi on board
    • Response: We understand that Wi-Fi would enhance the fishing experience, but at this stage we do not see the need for having Wi-Fi on board and will unfortunately not install Wi-Fi at this stage, as the cost outweigh the benefits.
  • Request from employees to bring pets on board
    • Response: we have taken your request in consideration, but we will unfortunately not be able to allow pets on board. There is no safe space where they can be left on board, without posing a safety risk onto others and themselves. Animals cruelty will arise as animals could get injured, fall off board, or die.
  • Quality of the products produced by the wholesalers to whom we sell anchovy
    • Response:We have contracts in place with our wholesalers to ensure that our anchovies are only used for top quality products and purposes. If these contracts are allegedly breached, we will investigate it, and take the next steps according to the validity of the claim. As from the time of release there are none alleged claims of any breach of contracts taking place.

For any more queries and request, you are more than welcome to attend the press release which takes place on 30 May 2020, or e-mail us via anchor.management@gmail.com.
