In Anchor Management Ltd. our stakeholders and how they perceive value is of great importance to us. Not all stakeholders are the same, therefore we identify each group of stakeholders and classify them according to what their level of interest is in our company, and the amount of power they possess, allowing us to build a better relationship with each stakeholder group.
Our key connected stakeholders are processing business that buy our fish from us, boat manufacturers that we buy our boats from, and shareholders in our company that will be directly affected by decisions made that can impact the revenue of our company. Our employees are our internal stakeholders and are impacted the most by decisions made within the company, as this might affect their income or job availability. Other connected stakeholders are the end users of our product, even though we sell to businesses, the end users are also affected.
External stakeholders of Anchor Management Ltd. are the local community, as they are impacted by our business and boats in the ocean, trade unions of our employees, as they have a high level of interest in the company and how our employees are being treated. The government is also an external stakeholder that could have an impact since we need to have a license to be able to operate and catch fish.
Engaging with our stakeholders
As indicated by the Integrated Reporting Framework, shareholders provide us with useful insights that help us understand how they perceive value, what are some of the risks and opportunities that has not yet been identified by the business, create strategies to control risk and identify trends that have not come to everyone’s attention yet, but that are becoming more significant.
To engage with our stakeholders, we have a few ways in doing so. We have stakeholder engagement meetings where Ben our manager represents the company, by conducting annual meetings we keep our stakeholders up to date and address any new concerns that they might have. We also stay in touch with stakeholders over the telephone and over email. Anyone can go to our contact us page and communicate with us to raise any questions or concerns. Our website and our blog are also constantly updated as new concerns are addressed, to keep stakeholders informed.
The different groups of stakeholders of Anchor Management Ltd. can be plotted on a Mendelow’s Matrix that indicates the power and the interest of each group, dictating which groups should receive more information and attention to keep them satisfied. Less attention is given to less powerful stakeholders, so that that time and effort can rather be sent on the groups that hold more power over the company, but without neglecting the stakeholders with less power.
